What I use.

The hardware, apps and tools I work with every day. The story behind them is in My setup, and how I got here, and almost all of it installs with one command from mac-setup.

01Hardware

MacBook Pro 14″
Apple silicon. Everything runs on this one laptop, including every coding-agent session.
34″ ultrawide monitor
Room for an editor, a browser and a terminal side by side, all tiled.

02Desktop

AeroSpace
Tiling window manager. Keyboard-first, with fixed workspaces for chat, calendar and email.
SketchyBar
My own menu bar: machine load, the next meeting even in Focus mode, and titles hidden when I share my screen. How it works.
JankyBorders
Outlines the focused window, since tiled windows have no title bar to tell you.
Raycast
Launcher and quick actions.
Superwhisper
Dictation, for when talking is faster than typing.
Proton
Pass, Mail, VPN and Drive. Privacy by default.
Yubico Authenticator
Two-factor codes on a hardware key.

03Terminal

iTerm2
With Hack Nerd Font.
zsh + Starship
No framework: autosuggestions, syntax highlighting and completions, plus a prompt that shows git state and runtimes.
mise and uv
Node and Python runtimes, and Python packages.
The modern classics
eza, bat, ripgrep, fd, zoxide, fzf, jq, btop.
gh-dash + lazygit
My pull-request queue and review tool, with my own keybindings. How I review.

04Code

VS Code
My editor, and $EDITOR in the terminal.
TypeScript, React, Next.js
The day-to-day stack for NOVA at InSpace.
Tailwind, Radix and Storybook
For the design system: components and patterns that scale across the product.
Vitest, Cypress and Playwright
Tests at the layer where they catch what matters.

05AI

Claude Code
Coding agents, each task in its own worktree, starting from a reviewed plan. Plans before code.
clorch
Shows which agent sessions are working, idle or waiting on me.
Claude
My daily thinking partner for architecture, writing and the occasional stuck Friday afternoon.

06Home

Home Assistant
Local-first smart home since 2018, and an open-source project I contribute to. The story.
